Welcome to Season 27!
I'm so excited to welcome our dancers and their families to Premier's Season 27. What's "Season 27" mean? Well, we have always called our dance program a "school year" but that seems to be out-dated. Most dance studios are referring to their program as a dance season, and this will be our 27th year in business. So, Welcome to Season 27!
We have a few other new things at Premier, some minor news and some a little bigger news...
We'll start with the minor news. We're changing the name of our annual recital (in May). The term "recital" seems to also be out-dated, so starting this year our performance will be called our Spring Showcase. Goodbye Recital, Hello Spring Showcase!
We're offering 4 half-day in-studio workshops for our Premier Prep and Premier level dancers! The workshops will consist of four Saturday afternoon classes, taught by guest teachers and some of Premier's teachers. Workshops offer dancers a fun atmosphere to experience fast-paced classes (different styles and genres from what they already are enrolled in). Some of my fondest memories of growing up a dancer are memories of attending dance workshops and conventions with my friends from dance - dance friends are forever friends! Our in-studio workshops will give our dancers the opportunity to experience new teachers and new styles, and will hopefully inspire them to attend more workshops outside of the studio! Dancers can register for the workshops via the Parent Portal - there's a discount for registering for all four workshops, and dancers who bring a friend who dances at another studio will receive the workshop at half price (and their friend will too!). The deadline to register for the first workshop is Friday, September 20.
In bigger news, Miss Becky has decided to "retire" from teaching dance - no, she's not really that old, but she decided it was time to move on. Miss Becky is a teacher's aid at Queen of Peace elementary school, and it takes up quite a bit of her time. Miss Becky is still a dear friend of mine and I will miss seeing her on a weekly basis. But, as I've been saying, dance friends are forever friends, so I am positive she and I will remain close friends and I wouldn't be surprised if we see her at our Spring Showcase!
So now your question is probably "who is going to take Miss Becky's place?" Well, in all honesty, nobody can replace Miss Becky, but I do have a new teacher ready to begin teaching our PreDance students in the fall! Her name is Miss Annie. She grew up dancing in the Madison area, went to school for elementary education, owned a day care, and eventually went back to school and became a pediatric nurse! I'm excited for Miss Annie to join us in the fall. She'll be a great addition to our already caring, compassionate and fun faculty!
I think that covers everything for now! I'm excited to see you all soon! Season 27 is going to be amazing and I'm so glad that you will be a part of it!
